KATS Network - Kentucky Assistive Technology Service

Description: To make assistive technology (AT) information, devices and services easily obtainable for Kentuckians of any age and/or disability.

COT - Commonwealth Office of Technology
Part of: KY Finance and Administration Cabinet
Description: Part of the KY Finance and Administration Cabinet, gives technology support to state-owned machines/networks/etc.
Serves: State-owned/KY employee technology
DWD - Department of Workforce Development
Part of: KY Education and Labor Cabinet
Description: The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) connects Kentuckians to employment, workforce information, education, and training. The agencies of the department, the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, and the Office of Employer and Apprenticeship Services work together to provide services through the Kentucky Career Center. Also, under the direction of DWD is the Office of Adult Education.?

ELC - Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet
Description: VISION
The Education and Labor Cabinet fosters opportunities for lifelong learning, training and career services while protecting the well-being of Kentuckys workforce.
MISSION
Educate Promote early childhood through 12th grade, postsecondary education, adult education and credentialed training to provide lifelong opportunities for Kentuckians.
Encourage Use of resources and data to improve the prosperity of Kentuckys ?workforce.
Employ Actively engage employers to drive Kentuckys workforce system by creating opportunities for and removing employment barriers for Kentuckians.
Enforce Create a culture of accountability to promote best practices, fairness, and compliance with Kentucky's wage and hour, employees safety, health and worker's compensation requirements.?
WOTC - Work Opportunity Tax Credit

Description: The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a federal tax credit available to employers who invest in American job seekers who have consistently faced barriers to employment. Employers may meet their business needs and claim a tax credit if they hire an individual who is in a WOTC targeted group.

CDO - Career Development Office

UI or OUI - Unemployment Insurance/Office of Unemployment Insurance
Part of: KY Education and Labor Cabinet
Description: Unemployment insurance (UI) benefits provide temporary financial assistance to workers unemployed through no fault of their own that meet Kentucky's eligibility requirements.
Serves: Unemployed workers who have worked in KY in the last 12 months.
Requirements: (1) Be unemployed or working less than full-time
(2) Have earned enough money to establish a valid claim
(3) Be unemployed through no fault of your own
(4) Be able to work, available for work, and looking for work
DVOP - Disabled Veterans Outreach Program
Part of: KY Education and Labor Cabinet
Description: Disabled Veteran Outreach Program (DVOP) specialists serve only veterans and other eligible individuals most in need of career services because of significant barriers to employment (SBE).
Serves: Disabled Veterans
Requirements: Veterans and other eligible individuals most in need of career services because of significant barriers to employment (SBE).
JVSG - Jobs for Veterans State Grant
Part of: KY Education and Labor Cabinet
Description: Provide employment assistance to veterans and eligible persons via a Department of Labor (DOL), Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG)
Serves: Veterans
Requirements: Receiving VA compensation for a service-connected disability or have a pending claim
Experiencing homelessness or at risk of being homeless
Discharged from the military within the last three years and been unemployed for 27 weeks in the last year
Currently or ever been incarcerated
Between the ages of 18 and 24 years old
A transitioning service member
Lacking a high school diploma or GED
A Vietnam veteran/served during the Vietnam era
Low income as defined by WIOA standards
LVER - Local Veterans Employment Representatives
Part of: KY Education and Labor Cabinet
Description: Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVER) work with employers to highlight the benefits of hiring veterans while working hand in hand with business service teams across the state.
Serves: Employers
HVRP - Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program
Part of: KY Education and Labor Cabinet
Description: The Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP) is an employment focused competitive grant program of the Department of Labor, the only federal grant to focus exclusively on competitive employment for homeless veterans.
Serves: Homeless Veterans
Requirements: Homeless Veterans should be sent to Aaron Williams immediately.
Brighton - Brighton Center Inc.
Description: Operator of NKY KCC. Offers 45 programs with the mission to partner with individuals and families to help them reach financial stability and independence.
Requirements: Program dependent
BSR - Business Service Representative
Serves: Employers
WIOA - Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act
Description: The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act is the legislation that provides funding to state programs to help people find jobs & upgrade their skills to qualify for better jobs.
WIOA provides financial assistance to economically disadvantaged, special needs populations, and dislocated workers who have lost employment due to technological changes, plant closures, or foreign competition.

TDS - Talent Development Services
Description: Adults:
Adult services are designed to support and connect underserved individuals to employment and training resources, enhance job marketability, and increase occupational skills attainment for todays competitive job market.
Priority for services will be given to those who are public assistance recipients, low-income individuals, and/or basic skills deficient.
Youth:
Youth services deliver a variety of services to eligible youth, ages 16-24, who face barriers to education, training, and employment. Youth services focus primarily on out-of-school youth. Services can include paid job training/internships, job placement assistance, college funding for certificate, credential, or degree (up to $7,000)
Serves: Adults/Youth 16-24
Requirements: Adults:
One of the below:
o Public assistance (SNAP, TANF/KTAP/ SSI)
o Low-income criteria (Based on 70% LLSIL- PY22)
o Disability whose own income meets the income requirement above, but who is a member of a family whose income does not meet this requirement.
o Homeless whose own income meets the income requirement above, but who is a member of a family whose income does not meet this requirement.
o Receives, or in the past 6 months has received, or is a member of a family that is receiving or in the past 6 months has received, assistance through the supplemental nutrition assistance program or State or local income-based public assistance
Youth (16-24):
o A school dropout
o A low-income individual with a secondary school diploma or its recognized 15 equivalent and: i. Basic skills deficient; or ii. An English language learner
o An offender
o Homeless, i.e. lacks a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence
o A runaway
o In foster care, has aged out of foster care, or has attained the age of 16 years old and left foster care for kinship, guardianship or adoption
o A youth who has been removed from his/her home and is in an out-of-home placement
o Pregnant or parenting
o An individual with a disability
o A low-income individual who requires additional assistance to enter or complete an education program or to secure or hold employment, as defined by the LWDB
CET - Center for Employment Training
Description: CET offers adults life-changing skills to help them find good jobs with a livable wage and build successful futures. Instruction is hands-on, practical, and personal, designed to get people working as quickly as possible to begin their path to a promising future. CET is accredited by the council of occupational education and provides competency-based skill-specific training in Medical Assisting, Health Technology Administration, and Human Resources & Payroll Specialist.
Requirements: Anyone 18+
NKADD - Northern Kentucky Area Development District
Part of: WIOA
Description:
- The NKADD is a collaboration of local leaders and staff educating and empowering communities by implementing quality services through specific areas of expertise in:
- Aging and Disability Services
- Local Government Services
- Workforce Development
Serving the Northern Kentucky communities in Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Owen and Pendleton counties.
NKWIB - Northern Kentucky Workforce Investment Board
Description: The Northern Kentucky Workforce Investment Board (NKWIB) drives policy, direction, and funding oversight for the local workforce investment system. The NKWIB drives innovative workforce development that meets the changing needs of employers and our labor force, resulting in the enhancement of economic development for our region.
As a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, the NKWIB is responsible for the following:
Management of the local Kentucky Career Center efforts, including the selection of the one stop operator and direct service providers (adult/dislocated worker and youth)
Selection of youth workforce investment activities
Identification of eligible providers of training services
Maintenance of a performance driven system for documenting accomplishment of standards
Oversight of budget status, audits, contract status

TANF - Transitional Assistance for Need Families
DCBS - Department of Community Based Services
Description: The Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) is responsible for child and adult protection, foster care and adoption, and services to enhance family self-sufficiency, including food stamps and cash assistance.
SNAP - Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
Description: Helps low-income people buy food for healthy meals at participating stores. Kentucky SNAP benefits increase household food buying power when added to the household's income.
Serves: Low-income citizens
Requirements: Eligibility based on household size and income.

KTAP - Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program
Description: Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (KTAP) is the monetary assistance program established using federal funds from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families block grant. KTAP provides financial and medical assistance to needy dependent children in Kentucky and the parents or relatives with whom the children live. KTAP also helps families find jobs or get training that leads to a job.
Serves: Low-income parent/caretaker of a child/children
Requirements: Applicant must have low income, be a Kentucky resident, U.S. citizen or qualified immigrant, a parent/caretaker relative responsible for children up to age 18 (or 19 if school attendance requirements are met).
TANK - Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky
Description: The Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK) is an agency of the Northern Kentucky community, serving Boone, Campbell, and Kenton counties and downtown Cincinnati. TANK provides public fixed-route and paratransit services as well as shuttles to and from local schools and Northern Kentucky University.
RAMP - Regional Area Mobility Program
Description: Door to door paratransit service available to disabled citizens who are unable to use TANKs fixed route bus service.
Requirements: Disabled citizens of Boone, Campbell, and Kenton counties
KCPL - Kenton County Public Library
OCPL - Owen County Public Library
PCPL - Pendleton County Public Library
Wagner-Peyser - Wagner-Peyser Employment Service Program
Description: One of the core WIOA programs, Wagner Peyser offers labor market information and job search assistance to job seekers, with specialized services for Veterans
Serves: Job-seekers
Requirements:
Basic eligibility: The customer is searching for and able to perform full-time work.
CAC - Community Action Committee
SCSEP - Senior Citizen Service Employment Program
Description: Community service and work-based job training program for older Americans. Authorized by the Older Americans Act, the program provides training for low-income, unemployed seniors. Participants also have access to employment assistance through American Job Centers.
Requirements: Citizen aged 55+, unemployed, family income of no more than %125 federal poverty level.
